A: It depends. Some market research companies consider your participation as "Contract employment" while other companies do not.
Q: How much will I be paid? A: Generally, you will be paid between $20-$150 per hour for your participation in these groups.
A: You will be paid immediately after the group except in very rare occasions. You will be paid in cash or by check.
Q: How often can I participate? A: You can usually participate in a focus group 2 - 4 times a year per focus group company. The more focus group companies you sign up with, the more opportunities you hav to participate.
Q: Do I have to pay taxes on this income? A: Focus group companies do not require tax information from you unless your yearly income from that company exceeds ($600) In other words, you can make up to $600 per focus group company, per year (U.S.) before those companies will issue a W2.
Q: Why am I asking so many questions? A: I don't know. You should be earning some money participating in focus groups! It's free.
